HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THERE'S A GAS LEAK?
By the smell. All propane is treated to smell bad if it leaks. It smells like sulfur, which resembles rotten eggs or decayed cabbage.
HOW SAFE IS PROPANE?
Thanks to safety conscious propane professionals and customers like yourself, propane is one of the safest energy sources available.
WHERE DOES LEAKING PROPANE GO?
Much like natural gas, propane dissipates into the surrounding air. It cannot mix with, nor contaminate soil or water supplies.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I SMELL PROPANE?
1. Open windows and doors to provide fresh air.
2. Do NOT light matches, and don't turn any switches or thermostats on OR off.
3. Check gas appliances. Is a burner on but not burning? If so, turn it off.
4. If the odor persists, or you can't find the leak and correct it, leave the building, and call Littlefield Propane from a neighbor's phone.
WHAT IF THE ODOR IS STRONG?
1. Exit the building, without turning lights or any switches on OR off.
2. Turn off the gas at the tank valve.
3. Notify Littlefield Propane from a neighbor's phone. Have them tell you where the outside tank shutoff is, if you don't already know.
4. Do not reenter the building.
5. If Littlefield Propane's phone number is not easily accessible, write it down now:
